$15M Boost for School Food Program 

$1,000 will be slashed up front thanks to the Queensland Government and an extra $300 from the Federal Government. 

That means most Bayside households won’t pay a cent on their energy bill until March 2025.

Plus, Bayside small businesses will also receive $650 off their bill.

New Premier Steven Miles’ number one priority is taking pressure off Queenslanders’ household
budgets. The upcoming budget will deliver the biggest cost of living relief in Queensland’s history.

As part of this unprecedented budget, the Premier has announced from 5 August 2024 the Miles Labor Government will lower all public transport fares to 50 cents a trip for 6 months.

By lowering fares to 50 cents we’re taking pressure off household bills and easing congestion. 

It’s important that Caucus demonstrate how the Miles Government is putting more money back in the
pockets of Queenslanders and taking cars off the road.

Under a memorandum of understanding signed with the Palaszczuk Government today, the companies will assess the feasibility of delivering the project at Ampol’s Lytton refinery site.
 
The plant would have the capacity to generate up to 500 million litres of SAF and renewable diesel a year - putting Queensland at the forefront of a clean jet fuel market in Australia.
 
Initial work on the project will include looking at potential feedstock sources and how existing refinery infrastructure can be leveraged for use in domestic and export markets.
 
Sustainable fuel is one of the strongest tools available to airlines to reduce emissions, but it is not currently being produced in Australia at commercial scale.
 
SAF can be used in existing aircraft engines to cut carbon emissions by up to 80 per cent.

Queensland is uniquely positioned given the availability of high-quality feedstocks from established industries. In addition, the location of Ampol’s manufacturing and distribution assets provides a great platform from which to explore SAF production.
