The health centre is unique to the area, state-of-the-art and provides a welcoming, peaceful environment with landscaped gardens and purpose-built gyms and treatment rooms.

From date of open in October 2017 to February 2024, Gundu Pa has seen over 107,500 patients! This wouldn’t be possible without the wonderful staff who work there.

The name Gundu Pa is a combination of two words in the local Jandai language meaning ‘medicine stones place’. 

Our local 24-hour health hub was given the name as suggested by Winnam Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Corporation.

Discover Wynnum Manly Comunity Health Centre, Gundu Pa

The TISSI is a collaboration between the Department of Education and Tennis Queensland, with the support of Tennis Australia, to encourage state school students to lead active and healthy lifestyles through improved participation in the sport of tennis.

The initiative is a co-funding arrangement with a total $2.2 million budget (including GST) across the 2022, 2023 and 2024 calendar years.

The total project budget is $39,600 (excluding GST) and is comprised of a 25 per cent contribution from Tennis Queensland, 50 per cent from the Department, and 25 per cent from the school.

These funds will refurbish the tennis court including resurfacing, line marking, and a new net and posts.

Delivering a fully refurbished tennis court will provide local students with a modern surface where they can develop their skills in a safe environment.

Sports like tennis have an unparalleled ability to change young lives for the better, which is why we’re investing right here at Tingalpa State School.

Our partnership with Tennis Queensland is another example of how the Miles Government is working with sporting bodies to unlock the next generations, Ash Barty.

In a positive turn, the cinema will reopen in April as Bayside Cinemas, with local business The Smitham Group as operator. It is also great to see that ticket prices will start at just $10 for adults, and $8 for pensioners and children.

Supporting our local businesses is a major priority for me. When we shop local, we support our Bayside economy which ultimately benefits Baysiders.

I am advised that this follows an open market tender invitation in 2023, which received three responses, for appropriately-skilled and qualified consultants.

Air Services Australia have advised me that the Trax appointment follows their independent review of Airservices’ Post Implementation Review of the flight paths designed for Brisbane Airport's new parallel runway in July 2020.

I am advised Recommendations from that review formed the basis of the action plan, which was developed to reduce the impact of aircraft noise following the introduction of the new runway.

Air Services Australia have further noted that Trax is already working on designs that respond to Package 3 and 4 actions, and they have advised that the first options should be ready to share with the wider Brisbane community after Easter.

I will continue to keep Baysiders updated on further developments from Air Services Australia regarding the Noise Action Plan for Brisbane.
